I’m very happy we went ahead and requested this baby monitor, our old Vacos was starting to fail us intermittently (it would freeze for minutes at a time with no warning) and the auto day/night selector was cycling on/off every couple of seconds for some reason.
The image quality of the GardePro is what struck me the most first time I used it, it is superior to our more expensive 7″ LeapFrog monitor we have in the nursery and far superior to the Vacos. I can now see very clearly what baby is doing and the motion detection actually works unlike the Vacos which gave a lot of false positives or would completely miss big movements.
Our baby likes to nap in our bed during the day so we need to be able to get reliable alerts on what’s going on. So far the GardePro hasn’t missed a beat.
Another feature we like is the fact that we don’t get static when bumping up the volume. It seems like there’s some sort of noise filtering and the mic on this is not as static-y as the Vacos. It’s the small comforts that make nap time less stressful on the parent monitoring the baby.
The quality of the monitor and camera is very good, there are no sharp edges or odd gaps and everything is smooth (antenna and kick stand deployment).
Battery life is great so far, it uses about 9-10% battery per 1.5-2h nap so it should be good for at least a week, that’s another plus when compared to the Vacos and even the LeapFrog.
Signal strength has been great, there are no spots in our 4 bedroom, 2 story family home where we don’t get a good signal on this.
Overall we are extremely happy with this new monitor and wished we would have gotten this to begin with and not waste a year and some change trying to make do with the cheaper but far inferior Vacos.
