I am probably the last person one would think would need or use a smartwatch. As a result, I’m going to review this from a different angle and viewpoint than most. I am not someone who exercises much. I don’t bike, jog, walk for exercise, or work out at the gym, though if you do any of those things, this watch has you more than covered. I am a senior with some serious medical issues. Yes, I always have a watch on, owning a collection of over 300. It is that love of watches that finally made me want to add a smartwatch to fill out my collection, though I thought I would get little use out of it. Boy, was I wrong! I was impressed from the minute I opened the box and was greeted with the choice of two easy-to-attach, spring-loaded bands, one a sporty orange and the other a more traditional black. It took just a couple of seconds to attach my choice of the black band. Then the fun began as I explored the myriad of functions this watch offers. The next thing that impressed me was the very easy-to-read 2” touchscreen face, with settings for brightness, length of time the face would stay lit, not to mention the choice of several different watch faces to suit just about anyone. Given my medical issues, I send my Doctor daily reports of my vitals, including blood pressure, pulse rate, activity levels etc. But now, instead of needing a fitness band to monitor some of those and a blood pressure machine, which has become a cumbersome chore to operate a couple of times daily, I can do it all with just the one smartwatch. A quick swipe and tap of the screen gets an acceptably accurate blood pressure reading, pulse rate and even blood oxygen level, allowing me to supply my Doctor with more readings every day. It also stores readings by day, week, and month. Did I mention it also is able to make and receive phone calls, texts, etc.? Pairing to my phone took just seconds and, like all functions of the watch, is very intuitive and user-friendly. I can honestly say I was truly amazed at all this watch could do and kick myself for not getting one sooner. There is one last important factor I had to consider. Given all this watch does, how often does it need recharging? I don’t have a definitive answer for that yet, but can easily estimate it. After my first full 5 days of using it, I got a low-battery warning. However, I fully expect under normal use that will probably at least triple. During that first charge, I spent time putting in all the settings and preferences I wanted and was constantly using it, testing its different functions and tapping it on constantly, as I tend to do when getting something new. Now I will settle into a more normal use pattern and I’m guessing the battery will easily go at least a couple of weeks before chargings.
My final recap would be no matter who you are, how active you are, how old or young you are and whatever your needs are, this smartwatch will have you covered. And, all at a reasonable price that doesn’t break the bank. My only regret is that I didn’t get it sooner. It is definitely deserving of 5++ stars!
