I have had for less than 24 hours, so will be updating as I gain more info. Go to end for updates and/or corrections. (Last updated May 2)
PRO:
Large size makes for easily visible display (No need to reach for glasses to tell time).
Most functions work exactly as advertised.
Phone and message connectivity works well.
Display brightness is configurable.
Display duration is configurable, including duration and turning it wrist flip activation off entirely. (This way display does not wake you up while monitoring sleep. I believe there is way to tie this function to time-of-day, but I can not remember where I saw it)
Lots of faces available, and several of them get stored on phone so you can switch without engaging with phone app.
CON:
Timers and stop watch must stay on screen to use. You can not switch away to face display or other apps while running. These would be much better if they would run in background so you can do other things on watch. The only concession to this is they left a small display of the time in upper corner of this display)
I can find no way to sync step count with the Samsung health app.
Weather does not update reliably.
Revision 2/12/23
Correction: You can start a timer and switch away to view watch face, or other info, leaving it to continue countdown in background. This makes it vastly more useful. There are several timers pre-set and you can even create a customized one. (however, not true for stopwatch, since it stops when you try to exit it by whatever means.)
Revision 2/18
Exercise timers also stop if you switch away to do something else. Timers and watches REALLY should remain running in background until you want them to stop.
Additional observation 3/28
The battery life is GREAT. One reason I bought was the larger battery size that was advertised. You can reliably use it and only charge once a week. By the indicator value, there is probably enough charge left to go about 10 days (as a general policy, I do not like to run rechargeables completely flat.)
5/1
They do updates! Although they do not list what they have changed I have noticed a few things. For one, weather DOES update as it should. BE AWARE – if it does not seem to be working make sure that bluetooth is still connected between phone and watch.
Take the time to play with the interface. Sliding the watch face to left will allow you to quickly access your some functions, and you can add to the list. Slide to the right and there is a mini-menu, with things like find-your-phone, and others that you might want to access quickly. Slide face up to see recent messages. Press and hold for a bit and you can switch to another watch face.
7/30 The weather function on watch loses sync if watch and phone are separated for a long time. I have found the quickest fix is to go to the phone app and restart it: Hold on the icon and Da Fit menu appears with a little encircled i in the upper right corner. Press that and click on the Force stop icon located lower right. Wait a couple of seconds and click on the Open icon to start the app back up. I will then quickly update the weather data on the watch.
There are so many functions built into this watch that it could really use a detailed comprehensive manual to be able to do everything. Anybody know if there is one?
I would give it a five star, but still find the lack of concurrent functions for stop-watch and exercise routine timers is a flaw. If they fix those shortcomings I will happily upgrade my review to 5 stars.
In the meantime, I will continue trying to learn how everything works, and hope for an update that fixes the problems I have noticed.
