At a glance, you’d never know the difference between this entry level smart watch and other higher end Android watches. In fact, I would bet dollars to donuts that this product has better performance & features than most 1st Gen watches of any brand.
The setup was pretty straightforward, but of course you will have to agree to several terms and permissions, as well as create an app specific account. On the brightside, the app reviews are mostly positive and it does not appear to have any red flags in its TOS agreement.
Although, I have encountered a few random glitches with the app that have required me to close out of it. But overall, connecting to the app and transferring data from the watch has been pretty seamless. I did encounter a bit of frustration with setting up the Alexa integration, however, but in the end I got it sorted out.
The screen on the watch isn’t as beautifully vibrant as an OLED device, but it isn’t too shabby for what it needs to do. The touch functionality is decent enough as well, but scrolling on the screen with your finger can be a somewhat annoying at times. In the app you will also find dozens of watch faces to choose from — ranging between practical and more stylized.
In terms of everyday use, it works as described for the most part. At times, the wrist gesture doesn’t always wake up the screen on the first try, but most of the other interactive elements are quite responsive.
The various health metrics are helpful, too. The heart rate, steps & calorie trackers all seem fairly accurate relative to similar devices that I’ve used; however, my interest in this watch was primarily for the sleep tracker, and I haven’t formed a full opinion on this aspect yet. I like that it divides the sleep into light sleep/deep sleep etc, but I am still not 100% sure how accurately it is tracking (or if its measuring logic makes sense). But I am leaning more towards being pleased with it than disappointed.
All in all, this is indeed a budget smart watch, but it does an exceptional job of hiding it — both in its visual aesthetic and in its feature set. I don’t often recommend generic smart devices, but I admit that this one is a keeper, and we have even ordered a second watch for my wife so we can track together.
