I am a mother of 4 and have used a few different monitors over the years, but this HelloBaby by far has been the best. I have used this monitor for 2 of my 4 children, still using it for my 2 year old now, and plan on continuing to use it for our next baby too. I have even been gifted other monitors with all of the fancy bells and whistles that I tried out, but I just end up stopping use of them and going back to this tried and true monitor that I love. This is simple and easy to setup and use, not at all confusing like some others. No wifi or Bluetooth connection. In fact one of my favorite features about this is that it does not have to connect to wifi, which can be spotty, and I have never had to worry about a stranger hacking into our monitor that way. It has great range and reaches all throughout our 4,000 sqft home, and has even worked inside our nextdoor neighbors house too. My husband was still at home, but I carried the monitor over to my neighbor’s with me so that I could watch my baby sleeping. The volume turns up loud and clear so that I can hear it throughout our house, and turns down quiet enough that I myself can get a good night’s sleep without waking up from every little sound that my baby makes. But the lowest setting is still loud enough to wake me if my baby is crying. The picture is crisp and clear, and I love that there is the temperature always displayed so that I know if I need to adjust the heat or air. We have traveled with this so much over the years and always take it with us when we visit family, and have never had trouble with it not working in any of the houses that we have stayed in. I have never found that anything interferes with the connection causing it not to work, and that is most important to me. If there was one thing that I could change about this monitor it would have to be having the time displayed on the screen so that I don’t have to look between my cellphone and monitor for that, but it has not been a problem over the past 4 years of using it. I would highly recommend this monitor to anyone looking for a quality simple monitor that doesn’t stress you out setting up and using it.

We bought the HelloBaby monitor a few months ago and it’s been great for us; we use it as a backup to our Nanit camera (which is on Wifi and goes out/in on occasion) and also travel with it. I will say that the monitor broke a month ago (suddenly wouldn’t take a charge) but customer support sent us a replacement within a week. Beyond that, which could happen to any product, no issues; it’s got some real bang for your buck that all new parents should appreciate.
Ok so I want to start by saying I did not receive this camera for free in return for a review. I want to make that clear bc I read other reviews stating the good reviews must’ve came from paid promotions. THAT BEING SAID, when I purchased it in June it was $70 after tax not $89.99+tax that it is now.
Ok so some background. We bought this for our daughters room as a BACKUP. Therefore, i wasn’t looking around for anything super expensive. I didn’t even really look at the features of this camera when I purchased it. What happened is we have the Owlet sock 3 and owlet cam. The sock is incredible and the camera was good. Biggest thing is it wasn’t practical to have to use our phone as the monitor nor was it practical to carry around our tablet so that’s how i found the hello baby camera and made purchased it based on star rating (I didn’t bother reading reviews) and the price.
Review time: as I mentioned I bought this as a backup so I wasn’t interested in smart features as I had all of that on my owlet. I purchased this based on price. First impressions: monitor was smaller than I expected BUT my fault for not fully reading size description and it was cheap after all. Ok so I was actually really impressed by some of the features it had: room temperature, one way or two way voice, and most of all camera movement control from the monitor was super cool! (My owlet cam was stationary so this was neat) Camera can go up down left and right. I do wish it could move down further BUT I understand that any further down and I’d be staring at the plastic base. Not to mention that it does appear it is meant to be mounted on the wall or crib. Given that I had my owlet mounted above the crib, I simply put this camera on a book shelf that overlooks my daughters crib. Zoom function is pretty neat, I do wish there were more than just 2 zoom options though but again for the price I can’t complain and realistically the feature, atleast for me, isn’t a necessity. Now this is where I see a lot of negative reviews, the connection. Ok so I went about a month getting super frustrated with the Monitor feed turning off as if it’s losing connection, and then reconnecting a seconds or minutes later. I was watching the bars on the corner of the screen and saw them drop then disconnect randomly start up again….so I assumed (as I didn’t read the manual in full) that I was losing signal. The point of this camera was to be a back camera so I didn’t have to have my phone out constantly it was quite frustrating!!!! ….and then…I realized it’s bc I had the VOX setting on which is a sleep mode where it still provides audio but turns off screen to save battery….once I turned this off my screen stayed on and hasn’t lost connection like I thought it was. I don’t live in a 5000sq ft house or anything but we live in a 2400sq ft house and I can be in my room which is across the hall, or I can take it downstairs to living room kitchen etc and haven’t had connection issues.
It’s been 6-7 months and it’s still working fine. My daughter has grabbed it and slammed it against the ground, thrown it across the room and still works. It holds a charge well when not used or when in VOX mode or just audio mode. When the screen is on it lasts about 6hrs. We use it during the day for naps and then at night we use it but leave it plugged in next to the bed on the nightstand.
Ok so final thoughts. It works great and does what it’s supposed to. It’s obviously not a “smart” monitor but it has the most important and necessary functions and they work well. So would i buy this again? At the price point I paid? Ya absolutely and I would’ve bought the a second camera. Would I buy it for $89.99+tax? I mean maybe, but I’m not really sure what else is out there at that price point. Did this product go up bc of inflation and supply chain issues and so did the other products then maybe if this is still considered a cheap price for monitors now a day. Or did this price go up bc of greed since it was selling well while the other monitors stayed at their price points? If that’s the case then probably not as when I was looking there were some monitors with multiple cameras, larger screens, and known brands around the $100 mark. So do your research and compare what’s out there around this price.
A big fan of this good value baby monitor. Works well, love the rotation element and never had any issues nearly two years later. Recommend it to everyone with kids and grandparents!

You can have multiple camera connect on a close server wich is nice. – The monitor will last a very long time and will ligth up if the baby cry (you can set low or high sensitivity) and it show the temparature which I like a lot. – There is also the possibility to set a timer for feeding can be nice for some BUT – The screen is pretty small (not only for the monitor) but the camera scope is pretty small. I can’t see all the crib of the baby. – It doesn’t show the time nor the date which for me is a down, cause if my baby cry in the nigth i like to know what time it is. – The monitor will fall on sleep after less then 1 min and there is no way to keep the screen on – You need a lot of ligth to switch from nigth vision to day vision, I can turn the ligth on but the vision of the camera won’t change until it face ligth directly. So depending on what are your need this camera can be the one or not.
(VF) L’article est bien et fait son travail. – L’image est claire et vous pouvez la déplacer facilement et il est possible de connecter plusieurs caméras sur un circuit fermé , ce qui est bien. – Le moniteur dure très longtemps et s’allumera si le bébé pleure (vous pouvez régler une sensibilité faible ou élevée au son) et il affiche aussi la température que j’aime beaucoup. – Il y a aussi la possibilité de régler une minuterie pour l’allaitement, cela peut être sympa pour certains MAIS – L’écran estpetit (pas seulement le moniteur) mais la portée de la caméra est assez petite. Je ne peux pas voir tout le berceau de mon bébé. – Il n’affiche ni l’heure ni la date, ce qui pour moi est important, car si mon bébé pleure la nuit, j’aime savoir quelle heure il est. – Le moniteur se met en veille après moins d’une minute et il n’y a aucun moyen de garder l’écran allumé. – Il faut beaucoup de lumière pour passer de la vision nocturne à la vision diurne, je peux allumer la lumière de la chambre mais la vision de la caméra ne changera pas tant qu’elle ne sera pas directement face à la lumière.
Donc, selon vos besoins, cette caméra peut être la bonne ou non.
I’ve been using this camera for about a month now, was purchased in May for my July baby. The first couple weeks, it seemed to be okay. Glitched every now and then but now the signal is constantly going out. I have even been almost right beside the camera and still no signal. It’s out so long at times that I’ve missed my baby fussing / waking up. It worth it in my opinion. If you are buying a baby monitor, it’s because you want eyes on your baby all the time and this product does not deliver.
Edit – company reached out to me after reading this and was very helpful. Offered to send me a replacement monitor since it wasn’t working correctly. Excellent customer service!
ich war auf der Suche nach einem guten aber nicht zu teuren Babyphone. Für mir war wichtig, das die Bildqualität ausreichend ist, eine Nachtsichtfunktion bietet und sich drehen konnte in die vertikale und horizontale Richtung. Gesehen und gekauft. Das Display macht einen wertigen Eindruck. Der Empfang reicht vom Erdgeschoss in den 1. Stock was für mich wichtig war. Vom Keller in den 1. Stock bricht die Verbindung teilweise oder meist eher komplett ab. Das ist aber auch immer etwas abhängig wie dick die Betondecken sind. bzw. welche Art Haus man hat. Die Kamera selbst hat ein geringes Eigengewicht was gut und schlecht zugleich ist. Sie steht sicher, aber kommt man etwas an das Kabel, kann sie leicht mal verrutschen. Evt. mit etwas befestigen wie z.b. Tesa Powerstrip. Aber das nur am Rande Wir hatten etwas zu hohe Erwartungen an die Auflösung der Kamera. Sie könnte etwas besser sein, aber wenn man ehrlich ist reicht es auch aus! Man sieht dass das Kind Atmet und sich bewegt. Der Ton ist wirklich ganz gut. Man kann sich auch mit dem Partner/in unterhalten wenn einer beim Kind ist und der/die andere am Display im anderen Raum sich befindet. Positive Eigenschaften: +Gutes Preis/ Leistungsverhältnis +Kamera schwenkbar, man muss sie nicht penibel ausrichten. Es gibt eine Zoom-funktion die ist aber von der Auflösung her nicht so toll. +Relativ gute Akkulaufzeit. (Kommt auch darauf an wie oft sich das Kind meldet und welchen Modus man eingestellt hat + Viele Funktionen wie z.b. Musik abspielen, Raumtemperaturanzeige, erweiterbar mit insgesamt bis zu 3 Kameras, ect… Negativ: – Speak and Talk Funktion funktioniert eher mäßig, da oft viel rauschen dabei ist. Um es einfach zu sagen… die Person am Display hat eine gute Ton Qualität aber die Person die an der Kameraseite ist hat öfter mal ein rauschen und ist nicht gut zu verstehen.
Leider hat nach einem halben Jahr die Kamera den Dienst eingestellt. Der Verkäufer kümmerte sich sofort darum und hat uns schnell einen Ersatz geschickt! Der Service bei diesem Anbieter war wirklich vorbildlich gut und hat ohne große Diskussionen für den Ersatz gesorgt. Man braucht ja schließlich ein Babyphone.
Mein Fazit: Ich würde diese Kamera immer wieder kaufen, weil sie ausreichend ist und ein gutes Preis/ Leistungsverhältnis bietet. Früher gab es sowas nicht und man ist trotzdem groß geworden 🙂
