The Netvue Orb Mini camera has everything you would want in an indoor camera for monitoring a baby/pet or for security. Installation is easy and fast. It took me less than five minutes to have it up and running. It connects quickly to your WiFi router/network using the Netvue smartphone app by scanning the QRG code with your phone.

I like the long power cord and USB charging block included. Also included are optional mounting hardware to permanently mount the camera to a wall, for example. The best feature is the camera lens which can pan all around, as well as up and down, to view the room you’re monitoring. The Netvue software has great features like motion detection and alerts that you can configure. The camera also has night vision. I love it! I will probably get a few more for my home.

I ordered this to keep an eye on my new puppy while gone. I really love this camera. It’s compact with great picture daytime or in the dark using night vision. We did not mount the camera so we could move from room to room. The base holds it perfectly. The talk feature is great but my favorite is being able to control the angle from my phone. I can tilt in any direction and see what’s happening in the wide angle lens it has. I recommend this camera.

I have it inside my screened in porch and have it set to alert me whenever something is on the porch. Luckily that’s only been me and my dog. But it’s nice to know I receive alerts if/when anything unwelcome shows up. Great quality and you can hear/talk thru it, as well. You can even move the camera around in the app to get a wider view.

Our family just got our first puppy and purchased this camera to keep an eye on her while we are out. We have an outdoor camera from Netvue already and this one synced to our existing app easily. The back of the puppies area is dark but the camera is able to see fine, even at night. Rotating and panning is more reactive and less delay than other cameras we tried.

Update: Eventually the camera showed up in the app and now it seems to function as advertised. It’s unclear why, and I had boxed it up so that I could return it. For now, keeping it because it seems to be working, but likely wouldn’t recommend or buy this for things I really care about. Using it mostly to reassure myself the house isn’t on fire or the front door wide open if I am not there.

Original review: I have the Birdify camera by this company and it functions well enough. I thought I would pick up one of the indoor cameras for when we are away from home for vacations, etc. This camera turned on but i was never able to access the settings in the camera. Tried to troubleshoot but never had success. Something this hard to set up and unreliable is not really something i want to depend on for security.

Works great but could be a little better

Trying this out to see what it is actually like and if Netvue products have got better over the last two years.
Bitter dissappointment was my initial thought when the zoom function turned out to be a digital zoom in the app and not a function of the camera.
I decided not to pay for the ongoing (after 1 month free) service, having fallen into that trap a few years ago when I initially tried other Netvue cameras all of which needed replacing by the company as they all were faulty. I do not trust a company whose products failed in the past to keep my debit card details safely (but they may do, I just have trust issues). This orb pro has worked consistantly now for 125 minutes, so better than previous products. To be a good product it needs to last one year of continued use, but I will not hold my breath.
Setup: was quite easy with the exception of having to hold the camera upside down whilst taking an image of the QR code on the base. What a PITA that was!
The wifi connected in a place where other older Netvue cameras have failed to find it, so that was a major plus point.
If securing it on a celing older users will find the unit quite ergonomic and easy on the hand. (Look in the app for the reverse image 180 degrees setting under the general setting). Yet another plus point!
The pan and tilt work well in the app. You can either tap on the direction arrow or hold them to get the camera to move. Yet two more plus points!
The zoom as I have said is not a physical zoom so if viewing on a device where you cannot use your fingers to zoom in then this part is an incredibly big FAIL. No plus points here, because it does not do what it states it should.
I cannot state what the delay from camera to phone is because my internet is substandard (fibre broadband due in a few months when the infrastructure is complete), however it does appear a second to two seconds slower than my Ring doorbell.
I have not tried the night vision, but suspect this has not changed from previous models, so it should be sufficient.

Overall this camera is very acceptable for what it does. The picture is clear, the pan and tilt work satisfactory. It can be mounted on the ceiling (make sure you can power it wherever you decide to place it) or mounted on other surfaces. The motion detection works, night vision available and software that does not require a subscription. However, it is much the same as any other pan/tilt camera that uses no physical zoom equipment.

The camera was more robust than I’ve come to expect from most indoor cameras – some manufacturers take “indoors” to mean thst they don’t have to build it well, but this Netvue camera is well built.

The box contained not only the camera, power lead and easy to follow instructions, but also a wall mounting bracket, wall plugs and screws. Nice extra as a lot of cameras don’t have all these things supplied, the Netvue represents great value for money in this respect.

Setting up the camera was easy too. Once you’ve entered your network wifi details then the phone app generates a simple QR code on the screen of your phone, which you then show to the camera lens and the pairing is complete. No mucking about with slow blinking network lights or fast blinking network lights; this just works and works well.

As a camera, this works well too. Important factor really for a camera is the picture quality, and it’s good. The daylight image is clear, with good colour matching and clarity. The night vision is clear also, but obviously in monotone not colour.

It should be noted that if you’re pointing this camera through a glass window, the nighttime infrared floodlight LEDs will shine onto the glass window, create a glare on the glass and then the camera won’t be able to see through the glare, or the glass – that’s quite standard on most camera.

The app works well too, with good simple control over the cameras movements and settings.

Overall one of my best camera purchases.

Wir haben die NetVue Orb Pro jetzt seit ein paar Wochen im Einsatz und sind super zufrieden. Zuvor hat die NetVue Orb Cam Ihre Dienste solide geleistet und haben somit auch einen guten Vergleich. Wir nutzten die alte Kamera und jetzt auch die neue als Babyphone in Verbindung mit einem iPad. Vor Allem wenn wir eine Etage weiter unten sind, ist das sehr praktisch.

Die Orb Pro kam schnell und gut verpackt an. Die Einrichtung ging sehr einfach von der Hand. Einfach App runter laden, den Einrichtungsassistenten starten und das wars schon. Die Kamera lässt sich auch mit einer Speicherkarte ausstatten, sodass Aufzeichnungen möglich sind und diese später wiedergegeben werden können wenn es erwünscht ist.
Im Vergleich zur Orb Cam, hat sich einiges an der Bildqualität geändert. Das Bild ist wesentlich schärfer und klarer geworden. Auch hat sich der Weitwinkel vergrößert, sodass mehr Fläche abgedeckt werden kann. Der Nachtsichtmodus aktiviert sich bei Dunkelheit automatisch. Besonders hier haben wir den Unterschied zum „Vorgänger“ gemerkt. Der Nachtsichtmodus war da schon gut, aber kein Vergleich zur Orb Pro. Zudem gab es bei der Orb Cam immer so ein „Klick“ Geräusch, wenn sich die Nachtsicht aktiviert bzw. deaktiviert hat. Bei der Orb Pro ist das nicht mehr der Fall.
Die Kamera lässt sich über die App 360 Grad drehen und das super leise. Über das eingebaute Mikrofon lässt sich alles gut verstehen. Allerdings vernehmen wir immer so ein kleines Eigenrauschen, was wie ein Wasserfall klingt, wenn gerade eigentlich alles still sein sollte. Es ist dennoch wesentlich angenehmer, als das brummende Geräusch vom Vorgänger. Wenn auch könnte es ein wenig leiser sein. Über einen Lautsprecher verfügt die Kamera auch, sodass es auch möglich ist in die andere Richtung zu sprechen.

Rundum sind wir mit der Orb Pro sehr zufrieden und können sie guten Gewissens weiterempfehlen.

Clear video and audio, another quality Netvue product

I’ve used Netvue cameras in the past before, mainly as a baby monitor, and this recent new one did not disappoint. The setup is in a similar style to before – you have to install the Netvue App, choose the product you purchased, and scan the QR code underneath the camera and “show” the subsequent QR code back to the camera to get it to pair with the wifi network. Previously I had issues with connecting to my wifi as both my 5Ghz and 2.4Ghz wifi broadcast through the same name, but this time it seemed to pair quickly and without fuss, although I had to “tell” the camera that it wasn’t a 5Ghz wifi network.

The video and audio quality is as I’ve come to expect, that is clear and with minimal delay, both lighted and in darkness (infrared) the video quality is very good. The mic also picks up sound pretty well if you’re using it to monitor kids or pets, and there’s also a talkback function if you want to tell your kids to go back to bed! Good product, would recommend. Time will tell whether this one lasts for years, but I’ve not had any problems with my previous Netvue camera which I’ve already used for 3 years, so hopefully this one will be the same.
